After nearly 2 years of praying, planning and working; Ascension will once again offer a ministry of quality early childhood learning! The Church of the Ascension Preschool will offer one combined class for 3 and 4 year old children for the 2013-2014 school year. Class will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The preschool, housed in the education wing on the second floor of the church, will enroll a maximum of 12 students who are supervised by a classroom teacher and teacher’s aide. All program staff and volunteers are required to maintain current state and federal background clearances and complete a church mandated abuse prevention training entitled “Safeguarding God’s Children.” Classroom teachers are also trained and certified in infant and child First Aid and CPR.
We utilize the HighScope Curriculum, a research based and child focused program that uses the carefully designed “active participatory learning” process to achieve powerful, positive outcomes that are demonstrated through assessment tools to evaluate each child’s progress. Children enrolled in the program will engage in imaginative play, experiential learning opportunities and age appropriate religious instruction.
Our lead teacher, Michele Bucher, has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and has recently obtained a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. She has extensive experience in the care and education of young children. Michele has been a member of Church of the Ascension for many years where she serves as the nursery childcare provider, and teaches Sunday School and VacationBibleSchool at the preschool level.
We will have an Open House for students and parents on Monday, August 26, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. to distribute handbooks, calendars and schedules and to allow parents and students to tour our facilities and meet Mrs. Bucher.
