Ascension Preschool

We are currently enrolling students for the 2024-25 school year.

The Church of the Ascension Preschool offers 3 and 4 year old students a thoughtful, nurturing program intended to help student become Pre-K/Kindergarten ready. Classes are held from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Monday through Friday, following the Bradford Area School District calendar.  Because we are committed to offering excellent early childhood learning to all children, full tuition is only $150 per month and, based on household income, your family may qualify for a full scholarship, allowing your child to attend preschool tuition free.

The Preschool is housed in the education wing on the second floor of the church and will enroll a maximum of 12 students who are supervised by a classroom teacher and teacher’s aide.  All program staff and volunteers are required to maintain current state and federal background clearances and complete a church mandated abuse prevention training entitled “Safeguarding God’s Children.”  Classroom teachers are also trained and certified in infant and child First Aid and CPR.

We utilize the HighScope Curriculum, a research based and child focused program that uses the carefully designed “active participatory learning” process to achieve powerful, positive outcomes that are demonstrated through assessment tools to evaluate each child’s progress.  Children enrolled in the program will engage in imaginative play, experiential learning opportunities and age appropriate religious instruction.

Our lead teacher, Michele Bucher, has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the University of Pittsburgh and a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential awarded by the Council for Professional Recognition. She has extensive experience in the care and education of young children.  Michele has been a member of Church of the Ascension for many years where she serves as the nursery childcare coordinator, and teaches Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at the preschool level.
