At Ascension, we are so confident in the victory of Christ over all evil that even our youngest members can participate in Halloween without fear. We enjoy encouraging our children to choose appropriate costumes and share the fun with their church family. On Sunday, October 30th, we will have our annual Trunk or Treating event after our 10:15 a.m. worship service. Parishioners bring candy and some even decorate their cars so the children will be able to ‘trick or treat’ car to car in the parking lot. You are invited to come to worship and stay to enjoy delicious food and good company at coffee hour and let your kids get a head start on Halloween by wearing their costumes and trunk or treating with us.

Ascension Preschool is a ministry of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension dedicated to offering an excellent early childhood learning program to encourage children’s academic, physical, emotional, social and spiritual growth in a safe and loving environment. Because we are committed to offering excellent early childhood learning to all children, full and partial need-based scholarships are available.
We offer a combined class for 3 and 4 year old children. Our program is Monday through Friday, from 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and follows the Bradford Area School District calendar. The Preschool is housed in the education wing on the second floor of the church, occupying the former Wee World Nursery School classroom.
We are enrolling now for the 2015-2016 school year. Please call the church office at 368-8915 for more information or to schedule a tour of our facilities.
We’ve received a grant from Episcopal Relief and Development to help folks who suffered losses due to the water main break and water shut-off. If you lost wages due to business closing or had plumbing repairs caused by frozen or burst pipes you may qualify for assistance under this grant. You’ll need to bring a photo id and pay stub for wage replacement and/or estimate or bill from a plumber for repairs to the church office at 26 Chautauqua Place. There are some restrictions re: income and assistance available per household. For questions call the church office at 368-8915.

After nearly 2 years of praying, planning and working; Ascension will once again offer a ministry of quality early childhood learning! The Church of the Ascension Preschool will offer one combined class for 3 and 4 year old children for the 2013-2014 school year. Class will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The preschool, housed in the education wing on the second floor of the church, will enroll a maximum of 12 students who are supervised by a classroom teacher and teacher’s aide. All program staff and volunteers are required to maintain current state and federal background clearances and complete a church mandated abuse prevention training entitled “Safeguarding God’s Children.” Classroom teachers are also trained and certified in infant and child First Aid and CPR.
We utilize the HighScope Curriculum, a research based and child focused program that uses the carefully designed “active participatory learning” process to achieve powerful, positive outcomes that are demonstrated through assessment tools to evaluate each child’s progress. Children enrolled in the program will engage in imaginative play, experiential learning opportunities and age appropriate religious instruction.
Our lead teacher, Michele Bucher, has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and has recently obtained a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. She has extensive experience in the care and education of young children. Michele has been a member of Church of the Ascension for many years where she serves as the nursery childcare provider, and teaches Sunday School and VacationBibleSchool at the preschool level.
We will have an Open House for students and parents on Monday, August 26, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. to distribute handbooks, calendars and schedules and to allow parents and students to tour our facilities and meet Mrs. Bucher.
For more information, please contact Rev. Stacey Fussell at 814-368-8915 or motherstacey@gmail.org.
